Food Secret is operated by D23 Ventures Ltd (registration number HE 489062), a company registered in the Republic of Cyprus. This Health Disclaimer applies to your use of the Food Secret iOS app and the food-secret.com website. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

Please read this disclaimer carefully before relying on Food Secret for any decision that may affect your health.

1. Not medical advice

Food Secret provides general informational and educational content about food, nutrition, and lifestyle. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition, and it is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Always seek the advice of your physician, registered dietitian, or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition, a dietary plan, or a change to your eating habits. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read or seen in Food Secret.

2. How the score and life-impact reading are produced

The 0–100 score and “life-impact” reading shown in Food Secret are algorithmic estimates generated from publicly available food databases (such as Open Food Facts) and from information you provide about yourself. They are educational signals, not clinical assessments. They are not based on a clinical study of you personally, and they do not account for every individual factor that may affect how a food affects your body. Two people who eat the same meal may experience different outcomes.

3. Nutrition and ingredient data

Nutrition, ingredient, and product information shown in the App is sourced from third-party databases, product label recognition, and your own inputs. This information may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate. Reformulations, regional variations, and labelling errors can all affect what is actually in a product. Always verify product information against the manufacturer’s label before relying on it.

4. Allergen alerts

If you have a severe food allergy or intolerance, do not rely on Food Secret to decide whether a product is safe for you to eat. Allergen flags in the App are derived from the same third-party data sources and may be incomplete or out of date. Manufacturing processes, shared production lines, and ingredient changes are not always reflected in those sources. Always read the official product label and the manufacturer’s allergen statement, and consult your doctor or allergist about your specific condition.

5. Pregnancy and medical conditions

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, attempting to conceive, or have any medical condition — including but not limited to diabetes, kidney or liver disease, an eating disorder or history of disordered eating, a cardiovascular condition, hypertension, gastrointestinal disease, or any condition that affects nutrient absorption — do not rely on Food Secret for dietary planning. Consult your doctor or a registered dietitian before making any change to your diet.

Food Secret is not designed for the management of clinical conditions, for weight loss in children or adolescents, or for individuals recovering from an eating disorder.

6. Medical emergencies

If you think you may have a medical emergency, call your doctor or your local emergency number immediately (for example, 112 in the European Union, 999 in the United Kingdom, or 911 in the United States). Do not rely on the App, and do not use the App as a substitute for emergency care.

7. Apple HealthKit

If you choose to share Apple HealthKit data with Food Secret, that data is used solely to personalise the App’s calorie targets and to write back nutrition data you log. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising. HealthKit data is not a medical record and may be incomplete or inaccurate. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

8. Your responsibility

You are responsible for how you use the information shown in Food Secret. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, D23 Ventures Ltd is not liable for any decision you make in reliance on the App, including any decision about what to eat, what to avoid, or how much of a food to consume. Limitations of liability in our Terms of Service apply.
